A NEW SCHOOL. A CLEARER HANDOFF.

Help the important things travel with the student.

Bring contacts, questions, records and the student’s priorities into one transition checklist.

Make a handoff map

  • Identify the current-school contact and the receiving-school contact.
  • List which records the authorized school team needs to transfer, rather than emailing everything to everyone.
  • Verify dates and enrollment steps directly with the receiving school.

Prepare the first conversation

  • Describe strengths, communication preferences and immediate access questions.
  • Invite the student to choose what they want their new team to know.
  • Track open questions about courses, transportation, support and returning to routines.

Check in after the change

  • Name a person to confirm the handoff.
  • Ask the student what feels settled and what still needs attention.
  • Keep unresolved items active instead of marking the transition complete because paperwork moved.
