MEETINGS, WITHOUT THE SCRAMBLE

Walk into the room with your questions ready.

Make space for the student’s voice, organize what matters and leave with a next step you understand.

Before the meeting

  • Ask for the agenda and the names of the people attending.
  • Choose the student’s priorities together; an adult’s concern and a student’s preference can both be recorded without pretending they are the same voice.
  • Gather the specific examples and existing records you want to discuss. Keep originals in the school’s official system.

In the conversation

  • Ask what each unfamiliar term means in this particular situation.
  • Write down the question, the answer, the responsible person and any date the team actually agrees on.
  • If something remains unclear, record it as an open question rather than an assumed promise.

After the meeting

  • Compare your notes with the documents the school provides.
  • Confirm your understanding through the school’s agreed communication channel.
  • Choose one follow-through action and a check-in date. Alimenta does not replace school notices, consent forms or professional advice.
